Corp Nation Foundation

Coastal Communities Empowerment Project

This project is designed to address SDGs 3 (Good health and Well-being) and 5 (Gender Equity).

The coastal communities along the Western Region of Ghana are grappling with the devastating impacts of climate change, including sea-level rise, coastal erosion and livelihood challenges. CorpNation Foundation recognized the urgency to address these challenges and have joined hands with communities to initiate positive and sustainable change. The project focuses on community-led efforts to combat climate change and advance Sustainable Development in these communities.

Objectives of the project:

  1. Raise Awareness and Advocate: Increase awareness and advocate for climate action within the 13 coastal communities, fostering a collective commitment to SDG 13.
  2. Build Community Capacity: Strengthen the resilience of these communities through capacity-building, disaster preparedness, and the promotion of sustainable practices.
  3. Promote Sustainable Projects: Support and empower community-led initiatives that directly contribute to SDG 13 and align with other relevant Sustainable Development Goals.
  4. Advocacy: Empower communities to engage with local and national authorities, ensuring their concerns are heard and acted upon. We are focused on pioneering the innovation and advancement of youth needed to create a more circular economy and drive sustainable development along with environmental stewardship. This has led to the establishment of youth clubs across all the 7 coastal districts in the Western Region of Ghana. With this programme, communities championing routine clean-up exercises, educational engagement seminars, community infrastructure development, technical and vocational training for the youth, routine health screening and community football; all are community-led.
  5. CorpNation runs this programme with the support of stakeholders including traditional leaders (paramount and divisional chiefs), fisherfolks, youth groups, pressure groups and community leaders.
